Am I a 'Trouble Maker' or a 'Trouble Shooter'
You will hear many stories of how I have set out to damage the 'official' web site, and tried to sabotage the NPNC. (As per the email authorised by the NPNC. Word format - use your back button to return)
I set out here in chronological order what happened. There is a lot of information, but I have to "prove beyond reasonable doubt" that at no time did I try to do any 'damage' or 'sabotage'.
=======================================================================
First the entries in my personal web site diary (I have quoted all the text to show the reality) :-
Saturday, 12 July 2003. Had a bit of a worry yesterday. When I got up my blood pressure was 'off the scale'! Thursday was a very hot day, and the heat has always been bad for me. Anyway, I took an Atenolol, lay down, and drank some fluids. In about two hours it went (?down?!) to 160/100! At about mid-day it was down to a reasonable 135/85. I had a sandwich and it went up a bit, but not a lot. Quite a worrying day. But, there lies the problem. High BP causes worry, and that causes an even higher BP ... and so on. Good that I can control my emotions a little bit.
When the voluntary people did the 'flowerising' I got talking to a few of the organisers, and to cut a long story short, I offered to help in setting up a web site for the voluntary organisation as they did not have one. The next weekend I was invited to see some graffiti painting in the local park. Again we discussed the web site, and I licensed the URL NorthlandsPark.org, and did a holding home page. I then by accident found that there was a site Northlands-Park.org.uk. It transpired that the site was on hold as the designer was seriously ill. My thought was to carry on and hand over the site 'as and when'. I then licensed the URL NorthlandsPark.org.uk, and set up a few pages on the corner of my 'beeb' ISP. You can see my initial efforts by going to www.NorthlandsPark.org I have now signed up with '1 and 1' for a 500meg site, but I'm having probs with their system - seems very complicated! But, I expect that I will get the hang of it! (Gives me something to occupy my mind!)
Just found probs with NorthlandsPark.org.uk that is with '1 and 1'! Another prob to sort out!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friday, 18 July 2003. Not been doing much with this diary lately, have I?
Not a lot to say - may be interesting in the coming weeks in regard to the www.NorthlandsPark.org web site. Had a visit from an official advisor and a local rep to discuss how we go forward. Maybe the 'official' site will amalgamate with mine, or I'll go forward with a parallel site with no fetters of officialdom. (May have to spend £250-£400 on distribution of a leaflet. But it's a hobby, and model railway hobbyists spend more!)
Had to go into the hospital yesterday to get a blood test. The practice nurse can't find a vein! Cost me £13 to get there and back. Got a taxi because my blood pressure has been going high over the week. I have managed to control it with my relaxation techniques. Also, taking Atenolol - beta blocker. Been off heart medication for four years now.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friday, 25 July 2003. Still getting to be a boring ol' life!
OOPPSS!! Just looked at the above about my blood test. Should have seen the doctor today. Never mind, see him next week.
All seems quiet with the www.NorthlandsPark.org web site. Sent two emails setting out my thoughts, but no response. Everyone must be content. I have the next stage of the site prepared, and in accordance with my thoughts last week, I'll upload it on my birthday, on Monday.
============================================================================
============================================================================
Next the emails that I sent, and received, showing that at all times, I kept the BDC/NPNC people informed of what I was doing (I have deleted the names and used P1 - P2 - P3 - P4 - P5) Three are with BDC/NPNC one with BDC and one with NPNC) :-
All was OK . I was told nothing about the existence of the 'Boiler House' site.
I was encouraged to set up a Northlands Park web site.
Even at the mural painting, when I told them of Northlands Park.org, no said that there was another site.
It took about two weeks and many emails before the penny dropped.
Perhaps they thought that I was just an old, loud-mouthed fool. And, would just go away.
This will be tedious for you to read, but if you want the TRUTH, then you have no option!
I have added comments where these will help.
From: P1 To: Me Sent: Sunday, June 22, 2003 12:26 PM Subject: I visited your site
Hi its P1 who was there with the young people on Saturday. The photographs are wonderful and all our young people enjoyed the day. However the main group of young people were from the Northlands Youth Council, which P4 and I organise and it would be nice if you could mention them. The idea was to bring together different generations from the Northlands region and while really grateful to the MV's (some of whom live on the estate) the project was mainly developed by the Youth Council of Northlands Park.
Enjoying your web site. {*This is my personal site*}
My reply referring to the entry on my personal site
All best wishes
Your wish is my command! I have made the change.
I did try to get some written info, but there was none available.
If you want any other points included, please let me have them in an email and I will do the honours
What about your full names, and titles? et al?
All the best,

coordinating the youth council there and recognition such as yours is always
welcomed!
Keep up the good work.....and if ever you've got time to become even more
involved I would welcome a call from you.

Many thanks, P3, for the kind words.

Thank you very much. I did not mean to come across as pushy but the young people
from Northlandds park do not seem to get any recognition - perhpas we should invest in some T Shirts with logos! It really is good of you to put us on the web - now comes the cheeky bit - we have lots of projects coming up soon on Northlands Park
the first being a Spray Art Weekend - not this one coming up but the next and
I wonder whether you would like to visit and maybe have a go and mention it on your web site. We would also be grateful if you would pass the word round and everyone is welcome. Will be talking further to Eileen about all the projects - perhpas we can meet for a chat.
My reply
Didn't think you were being pushy, me darlin'!
This is not a good medium for conveying emotions!
Yup, when you visit Eileen, come and see me and we can have a chat.
I tend not to get too involved as my 'mental horse power' is not what it used to be.
But, I will do my best.
Can you give me some text and/or pictures, and I will do a special section on your group.
If there is a good amount of info I will arrange for a site for you (FOC) eg www.NortlandsPark.com (that's not active at the moment tho'.
All the best to you and your colleagues.

My reply letting them know that I have started the Northlands web site. 4/7/03
It was at the mural painting at Northlands Park that P1 shouted to the boys that they now had a web site NorthlandsPark.org Even at this time I was not told of the 'Boiler House' site!
Just to let you know that I have put up a dummy page on :-
Should be active in 24 hours (or so?) I'll get the photos up ASAP.
All the best,
Ted
===============================================================
From me to P1 5/7/03 saying that I would give the 'new' site to them
This is the confirmation of the URL.
This email confirms that the URL belongs to the organisation as we discussed.
You will need to give me the full title of the organisation so that I can set out a letter.
I can also set up a direction to your email (or others) for an addy like
info@northalandspark.org
See tomorrow.

===============================================================
From me to P1 6/7/03 telling them that the site is active
It is now active and I have done a bit about the layout.
Let me know any views re colours, layout, content etc. Remember it is YOUR site.
Can I have some text, via email, to put on the various pages.
That's the beginning ....... let's aim for a month for a 'posh' site.

From me to P2 7/7/03
Hi P2,
Remember me, Ted Aylward, from Felmore Court ---- the 'flowerising'.
I have been having contact with P1, and have started a web site for them :-
I got your addy when looking at the BDC site.
Two points.
First - am I treading on anyone's toes?
Second - if not can I use any content of the BDC site for the Northlands site - e.g. photos and maps?
The 'flowerising' is at :- http://www.ted-aylward.com/bdc/interlock.htm I know that I have spelt the name wrong on the pages, will correct ASAP!
All the best,
Ted
====================================================
Between me, P1 & P4 (I try to see if it is OK for me to continue)
Does this affect us?
Did you know of the :-
"We are also in the process of putting a website together for the Northlands Park Neighbourhood Committee" part?
Does our site cover the same area?
Can we run parallel, or are we redundant!
I do not want to get involved with 'committees' or make any personal
applications for funds.
Can you phone ASAP?
Cheers
Ted

HI Ted,
It was good to get your e mail and details of the web site.
I have already looked at the site, its excellent! The project on Northlands
Park is "Interlock" as in all agencies are part of a jig saw and will
interlock together to meet the needs of local residents.
I have also spoken to P5 who ..... "Interlock" about the
purchase of a computer for the residents of Felmores Court. P5 suggested
you pop into the "boiler house" to see him about the project, and maybe
apply to the "Community Fund" for funding.
We are also in the process of putting a website together for the Northlands
Park Neighbourhood Committee. (Now they, at last, tell me!)
If you would like to get involved in this please contact Neighbourhood Committee
Rep P3 discuss the website project.
Good Luck Ted, and keep up the good work!!
Kindest Regards

Not to worry Ted - My boss was on leave today but I am seeing him tomorrow and
will voice my concerns. As far as P4 and I are concerned there will be no committees on Northland Park Youth Council - I will ring you as soon as I have spoken to P3.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Cheers love,
I have checked www.NorthlandsPark.org.uk and it was not activated, so I have licensed it.
So we have that URL and www.NorthlandsPark.org
It should be active in 24 hours. So we will have both URLs.
I look forward to the text and pics for the site.
Do I assume that the "Northlands Park" committees are not directly in control of NPYC?
If so we can just carry on.
Remember ..... almost my first word was ..... politics!
Ho hum........
Regards,
Ted

It all starts to fall apart! 10/7/03 It has taken six days and many emails for the penny to drop! But, at the 'flowerising' 21/06/03 I mentioned starting a web site and no-one mentioned the 'Boiler House' site!
From: P1 To: Me Sent: Wednesday, July 09, 2003 6:11 PM Subject: Re: website
Only just managed to have a word with my boss. He is more than happy that you
manage this one for P4 and I. He is also very grateful. P2 also spoke to me and we agreed that the website is just for Northlands Youth
Council. Sorry about the delay in replying. I will see you at the Barbacue and
hopefully by then we will have some gumpf about us.
See you soon

I reply
Does this mean that the web site
www.northlands-park.co.uk will cover the Northlands Park Neighbourhood?See you Saturday.

From: P1 To: Me Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2003 11:10 AM Subject: Re: website
It will be based on only the Youth Council which P4 and I run. If you want to include other items let me know. It will have nothing to do with any neighbourhood scheme. Just us. Is that okay Ted?

The site www.northlandspark.org.uk is gradually taking shape.
Any info on the meet with the Youth Council - et al?
Can you get me some info for the "Boiler House" section?
I know that this is a cheek - but can I get any printing (and/or distribution) via a good 'friend'!?
There is now an advert in the newsagent, and I'm hoping to get some help from it.
I am waiting for quotes for an A5 flyer drop, and an A4 personalised envelope drop via Royal Mail for the catchment area. (Go out further later?)
Thanks for the encouragement from you both,
Ted

You will have seen - if you stayed the course, read (and understood), the emails, that at all times I kept the important people aware of what I was doing.
At no time did anyone advise me off the 'official' site, or ask me not to continue with my 'independent' site. The 'penny dropped' for them on 10/07/03 - three weeks and many emails after I mention that I am going to set up a web site.
Have I "proved beyond reasonable doubt" that at no time did I try to do any 'damage' or 'sabotage'.
