MEDICATION SUMMARY
DAILY ASPIRIN 75mg/DAY : GLIPIZIDE 2.5mg/DAY
: METFORMIN 500mg 2/DAY : ATENOLOL
25mg/DAY : PRAVASTATIN 40mg @ NIGHT
OCCASIONAL NITRAZEPAM 5mg : CO-CODAMOL 8/500 : GTN
SPRAY
ALLERGY
Penbritan? - had very bad reaction in 1970. Since had other penicillin drugs
and OK.
Thrombo phlebitis from a general anaesthetic injection.
Minor Claudication? - both legs. (May just be
muscle cramp. Had quinine, but due to side effects, stopped after 14 days. But,
it has seemed to ease to problem in the long term)

HEART
MI February 1990. Diagnosis included opinion
that I had had minor heart attacks over previous ten years. Angiogram showed
abnormal blood vessels - instead of two large vessels there were three small
ones - one blocked, one 50% blocked. Double bypass recommended, but declined.
Put on atenolol and nifedipine - ceased taking them September 1999. Still take
75mg aspirin/day.
Emergency admission to hospital, April 2002 - thought it was heart. Had ECG and
blood test. Doctor said no sign of heart problems. Did find urinary tract
infection and type two diabetes.

TYPE 2 DIABETES
Diagnosed April 2002. Under control - 7 day
average settled around 7.0 two hours after main meal. See
here.
BLOOD VESSELS IN NECK
In October 2001. TIA. I lost the colour vision
in my left eye for about five minutes. Subsequent Doppler ultra-sound and MRI
confirmed a blocked blood vessel in the left side of my neck and one partly
blocked in the right side. Advice was to do nothing, but keep my cholesterol
under control. Started with Atavostatin, but had pains in the calves and
changed to Pravastatin. See medication above. See here.
June 2006. Had another TIA. Complete loss of
part of my memory. Could not remember shopping items. Visual disturbances. Went
back to bed and it all cleared.

HYDROCELE
I had a hydrocele for about 20 years,
and never had a problem until the beginning of 2001. It then got quite extended
and after an ultra sound scan, I had it drained - (half a pint of fluid was
removed!). The scan showed no abnormalities in the testes, and the specialist's
examination confirmed this.
July 2002. The fluid was drained again and
there was a lot of blood with the fluid. Had an ultra sound scan on the scrotum
. The left testicle is OK, but the right one has small cysts and adhesions. It
is unlikely that the testicle is cancerous. The scrotum has to be re-sectioned
to cure the hydrocele
October 2002. I had the operation. All seems
OK.

HIATUS HERNIA
Diagnosed 1990. Seems to be a minor one as I
have little trouble. Sometimes have what seems to be a blockage in the gullet
and very uncomfortable, but clears.

ARTHRITIS
X-rays have shown arthritis at the top and
bottom of my spine. Main symptoms are tension in the neck and occasional lower
back pain.

PHIMOSIS
Developed about 2002. Controlled with Vaseline
and KY Gel.

GOUT?
In the 80s had problems with my left heel and
left knee. Heel treated with steroids and knee treated with morphine and then
zyloric. Very occasionally get minor recurrence - treat with co-codomol and/or
ibuprofen.

OTHER
General anaesthetics ... Tonsils removed at
age 29 AOK. Anal stretch at age 45 - had ?thrombo phlebitis? from the
anaesthetic injection.
